CONSTRUCTING VEHICLE SHADOWS USING DISAGGREGATED STREAMING DATA - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17710644 titled 'CONSTRUCTING VEHICLE SHADOWS USING DISAGGREGATED STREAMING DATA

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a system and method for creating and maintaining real-time vehicle shadows using disaggregated vehicle data received asynchronously from different sensors of a vehicle.

  • Vehicle shadow service constructs and updates vehicle shadows using partial sensor data from a subset of sensors.
  • Asynchronously received sensor data from other sensors is used to augment and enhance the vehicle shadow.
  • The system ensures that the vehicle shadow is always up-to-date by incorporating data from various sensors at different times.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in:

  • Autonomous vehicles for accurate real-time tracking and monitoring.
  • Fleet management systems for efficient vehicle maintenance and optimization.

Problems Solved

  • Ensures that the vehicle shadow is always current and accurate.
  • Allows for the integration of data from multiple sensors in a seamless manner.

Benefits

  • Improved accuracy and reliability of vehicle tracking and monitoring.
  • Enhanced efficiency in fleet management and maintenance.

Potential Commercial Applications

"Real-time Vehicle Shadow Service for Fleet Management and Autonomous Vehicles"

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing systems that utilize disaggregated vehicle data for various purposes, but the specific implementation of constructing and maintaining vehicle shadows using this data asynchronously may be novel.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology handle data synchronization between different sensors of the vehicle?

The patent application does not provide details on the specific mechanisms used for data synchronization between the sensors.

What types of vehicles or industries can benefit the most from this technology?

The application mentions autonomous vehicles and fleet management systems, but it would be helpful to have more information on other potential applications and industries that could benefit from this technology.

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems and methods are disclosed for implementing a vehicle shadow service configured to construct and maintain up-to-date vehicle shadows using asynchronously received disaggregated vehicle data. For example, different sensors of a vehicle may provide sensor data into a data stream at different times in a disaggregated manner. A vehicle shadow may be constructed using partial sensor data from a sub-set of sensors of the vehicle, and may be updated or augmented using asynchronously received sensor data from other sensors of the vehicle.
