MULTICAST-REDUCTION ASSISTED BY NETWORK DEVICES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17709111 titled 'MULTICAST-REDUCTION ASSISTED BY NETWORK DEVICES

Simplified Explanation

The patent application abstract describes systems and techniques for performing multicast-reduction operations in a network environment. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • A network device receives network data related to a multicast operation to be carried out by multiple endpoints.
  • The network device allocates resources to handle additional network data from the endpoints and forwards the initial network data to other network devices.
  • The network device then processes the received additional network data using the reserved resources.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in large-scale network environments where multicast operations need to be efficiently managed and processed.

Problems Solved: 1. Efficiently handling multicast operations involving multiple endpoints. 2. Optimizing resource allocation for processing network data in a multicast scenario.

Benefits: 1. Improved network efficiency and performance. 2. Reduced resource wastage in multicast operations.

Potential Commercial Applications: "Efficient Multicast-Reduction Technology for Large-Scale Networks"

Possible Prior Art: One possible prior art could be existing multicast protocols and techniques used in network communication systems.

Unanswered Questions: 1. How does this technology handle network congestion during multicast operations? 2. What specific types of network devices are compatible with this multicast-reduction system?

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems and techniques for performing multicast-reduction operations. In at least one embodiment, a network device receives first network data associated with a multicast operation to be collectively performed by at least a plurality of endpoints. The network device reserves resources to process second network data to be received from the endpoints, and sends the first network data to a plurality of additional network devices. The network device receives the second network data, and processes the second network data using the reserved resources.
