DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17692575 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device that includes electrodes, insulating layers, wall patterns, light-emitting elements, and connecting electrodes. The first insulating layer is made of organic material, while the second insulating layer is made of inorganic material.

  • The display device has a first electrode and a second electrode on a substrate, with a first insulating layer on top.
  • Wall patterns are placed on the first insulating layer, overlapping the electrodes.
  • A second insulating layer is added on top of the first insulating layer, covering the wall patterns.
  • Light-emitting elements are directly placed on the second insulating layer, between the wall patterns.
  • A bank layer surrounds the area with the light-emitting elements.
  • A first connecting electrode is on the first electrode, making electrical contact with the light-emitting elements.
  • A second connecting electrode is on the second electrode, also making electrical contact with the light-emitting elements.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices for electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
  • Signage and advertising displays.
  • Virtual reality and augmented reality headsets.
  • Automotive displays and instrument clusters.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a simplified and efficient structure for display devices.
  • Enables the use of both organic and inorganic insulating materials for improved performance and durability.
  • Allows for direct placement of light-emitting elements, reducing complexity and improving display quality.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced display quality with improved electrical connections.
  • Increased durability and lifespan of the display device.
  • Simplified manufacturing process for display devices.
  • Compatibility with various electronic devices and applications.
