COMMUNICATIONS IN POWER SAVING MODE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17644216 titled 'COMMUNICATIONS IN POWER SAVING MODE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application relates to wireless communication and specifically focuses on power saving modes of a base station. The user equipment (UE) receives an indication of the power saving mode and adjusts its communication with the base station accordingly. This includes monitoring for wake-up signals, transmitting uplink control information, and transmitting or receiving communications via specific component carriers based on the power saving mode.

  • User equipment (UE) receives indication of power saving mode of a base station
  • UE adjusts communication with base station based on power saving mode
  • Communication adjustments include monitoring for wake-up signals with periodicity based on power saving mode
  • Communication adjustments include transmitting uplink control information via control channel resources based on power saving mode
  • Communication adjustments include transmitting or receiving communications via specific component carriers based on power saving mode

Potential Applications

  • Improved power efficiency in wireless communication systems
  • Enhanced battery life for user equipment (UE)
  • Optimization of communication resources based on power saving mode

Problems Solved

  • Power consumption in wireless communication systems
  • Limited battery life of user equipment (UE)
  • Inefficient use of communication resources

Benefits

  • Extended battery life for user equipment (UE)
  • Reduced power consumption in wireless communication systems
  • Improved efficiency and optimization of communication resources

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive an indication of a power saving mode of a base station. The UE may communicate with the base station based at least in part on the power saving mode, the communicating comprising one or more of: monitoring for a wake-up signal with a periodicity that is based at least in part on the power saving mode, transmitting uplink control information via control channel resources that are based at least in part on the power saving mode, or transmitting or receiving one or more communications via a set of component carriers that are based at least in part on the power saving mode. Numerous other aspects are provided.
