FEEDBACK FOR NETWORK CODED SIDELINK RETRANSMISSIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17643967 titled 'FEEDBACK FOR NETWORK CODED SIDELINK RETRANSMISSIONS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes a wireless communication system that involves an encoder device transmitting a network coded sidelink retransmission associated with a set of transport blocks (TBs). The encoder device receives feedback information from user equipments (UEs) indicating whether the TBs were successfully decoded. The encoder device then transmits second feedback information to a base station based on the received feedback information.

  • The encoder device transmits a network coded sidelink retransmission associated with a set of transport blocks.
  • Feedback information is received from user equipments indicating successful decoding of the transport blocks.
  • Second feedback information is transmitted to a base station based on the received feedback information.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, including but not limited to:

  • Cellular networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Vehicle-to-vehicle communication
  • Wireless sensor networks

Problems Solved

This technology addresses several problems in wireless communication systems, such as:

  • Ensuring successful decoding of transport blocks in sidelink transmissions
  • Improving the reliability and efficiency of wireless communication
  • Reducing the need for retransmissions and associated delays

Benefits

The use of network coded sidelink retransmissions and feedback information provides several benefits, including:

  • Enhanced reliability and robustness of wireless communication
  • Improved overall system performance and throughput
  • Reduced latency and transmission delays
  • Efficient utilization of network resources

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an encoder device may transmit a network coded sidelink retransmission that is associated with a set of transport blocks (TBs), the set of TBs associated with one or more sidelink transmissions. The encoder device may receive, from one or more user equipments (UEs), first feedback information, associated with the network coded sidelink retransmission, that indicates whether the one or more UEs successfully decoded the set of TBs. The encoder device may transmit, to a base station, second feedback information associated with the network coded sidelink retransmission that is based at least in part on the first feedback information. Numerous other aspects are provided.
