NEXT LEVEL ENHANCEMENTS FOR 5G NR TO IMPROVE UE PERFORMANCE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17643794 titled 'NEXT LEVEL ENHANCEMENTS FOR 5G NR TO IMPROVE UE PERFORMANCE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for a user equipment (UE) to transmit an interference indication to a base station via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message. The interference indication can be related to either a victim reception or an aggressor transmission. The indication includes information about the frequency range of the victim reception, details about the aggressor transmission, and the requested Bandwidth Part (BWP) for both the victim reception and the aggressor transmission. The base station uses this interference indication to identify and implement interference mitigation measures. The UE and the base station then communicate based on these measures.

  • UE can send an interference indication to a base station via an RRC message.
  • The indication can be related to a victim reception or an aggressor transmission.
  • The indication includes information about the frequency range of the victim reception.
  • The indication also includes details about the aggressor transmission.
  • The indication specifies the requested Bandwidth Part (BWP) for both the victim reception and the aggressor transmission.
  • Base station uses the interference indication to identify and implement interference mitigation measures.
  • UE and base station communicate based on the implemented interference mitigation measures.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, to improve the overall performance and reliability of the network by mitigating interference issues.

Problems Solved

1. Interference issues between user equipment and base stations can degrade the quality of communication. 2. Identifying and mitigating interference in real-time can be challenging. 3. Lack of efficient communication between UE and base station regarding interference can lead to suboptimal network performance.

Benefits

1. Improved network performance by mitigating interference. 2. Enhanced reliability and quality of communication for user equipment. 3. Real-time identification and mitigation of interference issues. 4. Efficient communication between UE and base station regarding interference.

Original Abstract Submitted

A UE may transmit to a base station, and the base station may receive from the UE, via an RRC message, an IDC interference indication. The IDC interference indication may be associated with at least one victim reception or at least one aggressor transmission. The IDC interference indication may include at least one of a first frequency range associated with the at least one victim reception, information associated with the at least one aggressor transmission, a first requested BWP associated with the at least one victim reception, or a second requested BWP associated with the at least one aggressor transmission. The base station may identify at least one interference mitigation measure based on the IDC interference indication. The UE and the base station may communicate based on the at least one interference mitigation measure.
