DISPLAY PANEL, DISPLAY APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17627794 titled 'DISPLAY PANEL, DISPLAY APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display panel with a light-transmitting region, first and second regions, sub-pixels, light-emitting devices, data lines, and transistors.

  • The display panel includes sub-pixels in different regions and light-emitting devices in the light-transmitting region.
  • Data lines are used to connect the pixel driving circuits to the sub-pixels and light-emitting devices.
  • The first data line is connected to pixel driving circuits in a column of sub-pixels, including a dummy sub-pixel.
  • The second data line is connected to pixel driving circuits in a column of sub-pixels located in the same column as the light-emitting devices.
  • A second light-emitting device in the column of light-emitting devices is connected to a pixel driving circuit connected to the first data line.
  • The first data line is connected to the second data line through a first transistor.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display panels for electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
  • High-resolution displays for gaming or virtual reality applications.
  • Advertising displays in public spaces or retail environments.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficiently driving sub-pixels and light-emitting devices in a display panel.
  • Ensuring accurate and synchronized data transmission to different regions of the display.
  • Minimizing power consumption and improving overall display performance.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved image quality and resolution.
  • Enhanced color accuracy and contrast.
  • Reduced power consumption and longer battery life for portable devices.
  • More efficient use of display panel space.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display panel has a display area including a light-transmitting region, at least one first region and a second region. The display panel includes sub-pixels disposed in the first region and the second region, second light-emitting devices disposed in the light-transmitting region, data lines and first transistors. The data lines include first and second data lines. A first data line is electrically connected to pixel driving circuits in a column of sub-pixels including at least one dummy sub-pixel, and a second data line is electrically connected to pixel driving circuits in a column of sub-pixels located in a same column as a column of second light-emitting devices. A second light-emitting device in the column of second light-emitting devices is electrically connected to a pixel driving circuit connected to the first data line. The first data line is electrically connected to the second data line through a first transistor.
