DISPLAY MODULE AND MOBILE TERMINAL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17622783 titled 'DISPLAY MODULE AND MOBILE TERMINAL

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display module that consists of a display function layer, a display planar area, and a buffer layer. The display function layer is divided into a display segment, a compression segment, and a bending segment. The display planar area includes a compression overlapping area. The compression segment projects onto the display segment, covering the compression overlapping area. The buffer layer, made of metal, is placed on the side of the display function layer opposite the eminent layer. A protective layer is placed on the side of the buffer layer away from the display function layer, covering the compression overlapping area. The protective layer is harder than the metal layer.

  • The display module includes a display function layer, display planar area, and buffer layer.
  • The display function layer is divided into display, compression, and bending segments.
  • The compression segment overlaps with the display segment, covering a compression overlapping area.
  • The buffer layer, made of metal, is placed on the opposite side of the display function layer.
  • A protective layer, harder than the metal layer, is placed on the side of the buffer layer away from the display function layer.

Potential Applications:

  • Consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
  • Automotive displays and infotainment systems.
  • Industrial control panels and touchscreens.
  • Medical devices with display interfaces.

Problems Solved:

  • Provides improved durability and protection for the display module.
  • Reduces the risk of damage from bending or compression forces.
  • Enhances the longevity and reliability of the display function layer.

Benefits:

  • Increased resistance to scratches, impacts, and other physical damage.
  • Improved overall performance and lifespan of the display module.
  • Enhanced user experience with more robust and durable displays.
  • Enables the use of flexible and bendable display technologies.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display module includes a display function layer, a display planar area, and a buffer layer. The display function layer is divided into a display segment, a compression segment, and a bending segment therebetween. The display planar area includes a compression overlapping area. A positive projection of the compression segment on the display segment covers the compression overlapping area. The buffer layer covers the compression overlapping area and is disposed on a side of the display function layer away from an eminent layer of the display function layer. The buffer layer comprises a metal layer. A protective layer is disposed on a side of the buffer layer away from the display function layer. The protective layer covers the compression overlapping area. A hardness of a material for the protective layer is greater than a hardness of a material for the metal layer.
