EVALUATING OVERALL NETWORK RESOURCE CONGESTION BEFORE SCALING A NETWORK SLICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17620675 titled 'EVALUATING OVERALL NETWORK RESOURCE CONGESTION BEFORE SCALING A NETWORK SLICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for a communication network system that allows a network node to evaluate whether to scale a resource of a network slice based on a request for approval received from another network node. The network node determines whether to scale the resource by considering information about a different resource.

  • The patent application is for a communication network system that enables scaling of resources in a network slice.
  • The system includes network nodes that can evaluate requests for scaling resources.
  • The network node receives a request for approval to scale a resource from another network node.
  • The network node determines whether to scale the resource by considering information about a different resource.
  • The first and second resources may be of different types.
  • The network node then transmits a message indicating whether to scale the resource based on its determination.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in various communication networks, such as cellular networks, data centers, and cloud computing environments.
  • It can be used to dynamically allocate and manage resources in network slices, ensuring efficient utilization and scalability.

Problems Solved

  • The technology solves the problem of efficiently scaling resources in a communication network.
  • It addresses the challenge of evaluating requests for scaling resources and making informed decisions based on the information available.

Benefits

  • The system allows for dynamic scaling of resources in a network slice, improving resource utilization and performance.
  • It enables efficient management of network resources, reducing costs and optimizing network operations.
  • The technology provides a scalable and flexible solution for handling resource scaling requests in communication networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

A first network node in a communication network can evaluate whether to scale a first resource of a network slice of the communication network. The first network node can receive, from a second network node of the communication network, a first message indicating a request for approval to scale the first resource of the network slice. Responsive to receiving the first message, the first network node can determine whether to scale the first resource of the network slice based on information regarding a second resource. The first and second resources may be of different types. The first network node can transmit, to the second network node, a second message indicating whether to scale the first resource of the network slice based on determining whether to scale the first resource of the network slice. Related methods are also discussed.
