Systems and Methods to Provide CSI-RS/TRS Indication to UEs in Idle/Inactive Mode - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17593748 titled 'Systems and Methods to Provide CSI-RS/TRS Indication to UEs in Idle/Inactive Mode

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for wireless communication that involves transmitting resource information to a user device in a reduced power state, transmitting channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) and tracking reference signal (TRS) to the user device when it exits the reduced power state, determining if there is paging information to transmit, and transmitting a downlink control information message and a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission based on the determination.

  • The method involves transmitting resource information to a user device in a reduced power state.
  • The user device exits the reduced power state and receives channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) and tracking reference signal (TRS) based on the transmitted resource information.
  • The method determines if there is paging information to transmit to the user device.
  • If there is paging information, a downlink control information message is transmitted to the user device.
  • The user device, which has synchronized with the base station, receives the downlink control information message and a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission.

Potential Applications

  • This method can be applied in wireless communication systems to efficiently transmit information to user devices in reduced power states.
  • It can be used in various applications such as cellular networks, IoT devices, and wireless sensor networks.

Problems Solved

  • The method solves the problem of efficiently transmitting information to user devices that are in a reduced power state.
  • It addresses the challenge of ensuring that user devices receive necessary information even when they are not actively communicating.

Benefits

  • The method allows for efficient transmission of resource information, CSI-RS, TRS, and paging information to user devices.
  • It ensures that user devices receive necessary information when they exit the reduced power state.
  • The method improves the overall performance and reliability of wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

An example method for wireless communication includes: transmitting by a base station, to a user device in a reduced power state, resource information for receiving a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) and tracking reference signal (TRS); transmitting the CSI-RS and TRS based on the transmitted resource information to the user device, wherein the user device has exited the reduced power state; determining whether there is paging information to transmit in a first physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission for the user device; transmitting a downlink control information message, wherein the downlink control information message is based on the determination that there is paging information for the user device, and wherein the user device has synchronized with the base station; and transmitting the first PDSCH transmission, based on the determination that there is paging information for the user device.
