TECHNIQUES FOR GROUPING AND REPORTING ANTENNA SUBSELECTIONS FOR MULTIPLE-INPUT MULTIPLE-OUTPUT MULTIPLEXING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17545695 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR GROUPING AND REPORTING ANTENNA SUBSELECTIONS FOR MULTIPLE-INPUT MULTIPLE-OUTPUT MULTIPLEXING

Simplified Explanation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for antenna selection and reporting for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications.

  • The patent describes techniques for selecting antennas and reporting them for MIMO communications.
  • One or more grouping parameters are provided to a wireless node, indicating a subset of antennas or target nodes for MIMO communications.
  • The wireless node measures channel parameters based on the grouping parameters and determines antenna subsets or target nodes that meet MIMO communication parameters.
  • The identified antenna subsets or target nodes are reported to a control entity for scheduling MIMO communications.

Potential Applications

  • Wireless communication systems
  • MIMO communication technologies
  • Antenna selection and reporting in wireless networks

Problems Solved

  • Efficient selection of antennas for MIMO communications
  • Optimization of MIMO communication parameters
  • Improved scheduling of MIMO communications

Benefits

  • Enhanced performance and capacity of wireless networks
  • Improved signal quality and reliability in MIMO communications
  • Efficient utilization of available antennas for MIMO communications

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for antenna selection and reporting for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications. One or more grouping parameters may be provided to a wireless node, which may indicate a subset of antennas that are to be used for MIMO communications, may indicate one or more target nodes for MIMO communications, or combinations thereof. The wireless node may measure one or more channel parameters based on the grouping parameters and determine one or more antenna subsets or target nodes that meet MIMO communication parameters (e.g., an antenna group or target node that will support a certain rank of MIMO communications). The wireless node may report an indication of the identified antenna subsets or target nodes to a control entity for scheduling of MIMO communications.
