ESTIMATION AND UTILIZATION OF A BLOCK FADING WIRELESS CHANNEL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17535503 titled 'ESTIMATION AND UTILIZATION OF A BLOCK FADING WIRELESS CHANNEL

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It introduces a technique to adjust communication parameters based on a determined block fading pattern, which represents a fluctuating channel quality between two wireless devices. This allows for more efficient and reliable communication between the devices.

  • A first wireless device determines a block fading pattern associated with a communication link to a second wireless device.
  • The block fading pattern represents a fluctuating channel quality between the devices.
  • Based on the determined block fading pattern, the first wireless device selectively adjusts one or more communication parameters.
  • The adjusted communication parameters are used for communication with the second wireless device over the link.
  • The first wireless device communicates with the second wireless device based on the adjusted communication parameters.

Potential Applications

  • Wireless communication systems and networks
  • Mobile devices and user equipment
  • Base stations and access points

Problems Solved

  • Fluctuating channel quality in wireless communication
  • Inefficient communication due to varying channel conditions
  • Lack of adaptability in communication parameters

Benefits

  • Improved communication reliability and efficiency
  • Adaptation to changing channel conditions
  • Enhanced performance of wireless devices and networks
  • Better user experience in wireless communication.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device (e.g., user equipment (UE), base station) may determine a block fading pattern associated with a communication link between the first wireless device and a second wireless device, the block fading pattern including a pattern of fluctuating channel quality. The first wireless device may selectively adjust one or more communications parameters for communicating with the second wireless device over the communication link based on the determined block fading pattern. The first wireless device may then communicate with the second wireless device over the communication link based at least in part on the one or more adjusted communications parameters.
