STARK SHIFT CANCELLATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17526852 titled 'STARK SHIFT CANCELLATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes systems and techniques for canceling Stark shift, a phenomenon that affects the operational frequency of a control qubit. The system includes a control qubit coupled to a target qubit. The control qubit is driven by a first tone that entangles it with the target qubit. Simultaneously, a second tone is applied to the control qubit, with an opposite detuning sign to the first tone. The second tone cancels out the Stark shift caused by the first tone.

  • The system includes a control qubit and a target qubit.
  • The control qubit is driven by a first tone that entangles it with the target qubit.
  • A second tone is simultaneously applied to the control qubit.
  • The second tone has an opposite detuning sign compared to the first tone.
  • The second tone cancels out the Stark shift caused by the first tone.

Potential Applications

  • Quantum computing: This technology can be applied in quantum computing systems to improve the accuracy and stability of control qubits.
  • Quantum communication: By canceling Stark shift, this technology can enhance the reliability and efficiency of quantum communication systems.

Problems Solved

  • Stark shift cancellation: The technology solves the problem of Stark shift, which can negatively impact the operational frequency of control qubits in quantum systems.

Benefits

  • Improved accuracy: By canceling Stark shift, the technology improves the accuracy of control qubits, leading to more reliable and precise quantum operations.
  • Enhanced stability: The cancellation of Stark shift ensures the stability of control qubits, reducing errors and fluctuations in quantum systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems and techniques that facilitate Stark shift cancellation are provided. In various embodiments, a system can comprise a control qubit that is coupled to a target qubit. In various cases, the control qubit can be driven a first tone that entangles the control qubit with the target qubit. In various aspects, the control qubit can be further driven a second tone simultaneously with the first tone. In various cases, the second tone can have an opposite detuning sign than the first tone. In various instances, the first tone can cause a Stark shift in an operational frequency of the control qubit, and the second tone can cancel the Stark shift.
