FEEDBACK DESIGNS FOR SIDELINK SUB-SLOTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17522627 titled 'FEEDBACK DESIGNS FOR SIDELINK SUB-SLOTS

Simplified Explanation

Abstract Explanation

This patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE). The UE receives a first data message in a specific sub-slot of a slot and a sub-channel of a sidelink data channel. It then selects a resource of a sidelink feedback channel based on certain indices associated with the slot and sub-slot. The UE may also choose a resource from periodic resources with a slot-based periodicity based on an index associated with the sub-slot. Finally, the UE transmits a feedback message associated with the first data message using the selected resource.

Bullet Points

  • User equipment (UE) receives a first data message in a specific sub-slot and sub-channel.
  • UE selects a resource of a sidelink feedback channel based on indices associated with the slot and sub-slot.
  • UE can also choose a resource from periodic resources with slot-based periodicity.
  • Feedback message associated with the first data message is transmitted using the selected resource.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, IoT networks, and vehicle-to-vehicle communication.
  • It enables efficient and reliable communication between devices, allowing for better coordination and data exchange.
  • The patent can be utilized by manufacturers of user equipment (UE) devices to improve their wireless communication capabilities.

Problems Solved

  • The patent addresses the challenge of selecting appropriate resources for sidelink feedback channels in wireless communication systems.
  • It solves the problem of efficiently transmitting feedback messages associated with received data messages.
  • The technology ensures that feedback messages are sent using the most suitable resources, optimizing the overall communication performance.

Benefits

  • Improved efficiency in wireless communication by selecting appropriate resources for feedback channels.
  • Enhanced reliability of data transmission through efficient feedback message transmission.
  • Better coordination and data exchange between devices, leading to improved overall system performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first data message in a sub-slot of a slot and in a sub-channel of a sidelink data channel. The UE may select a resource of a sidelink feedback channel based on a first index associated with the slot and a second index associated with the sub-slot within one or more slots comprising the slot. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may select a resource of a sidelink feedback channel from periodic resources having a slot-based periodicity based on an index associated with the sub-slot within one or more slots comprising the slot. The UE may transmit a feedback message associated with the first data message according to the selected resource.
