TECHNIQUES FOR DEADLINE-AWARE SCHEDULING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17520382 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR DEADLINE-AWARE SCHEDULING

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It introduces a user equipment (UE) that generates a set of data packets to be transmitted to a base station. Each data packet in the set has a specific expiration time. The UE sends an indication of packet expiration information to the base station, which is based on the packet expiration times. The UE then receives scheduling information from the base station, which is determined using the packet expiration information. Finally, the UE transmits the subset of data packets to the base station according to the received scheduling information.

  • User equipment (UE) generates a set of data packets with individual expiration times.
  • UE sends an indication of packet expiration information to the base station.
  • Base station provides scheduling information based on the packet expiration information.
  • UE transmits a subset of data packets to the base station according to the received scheduling information.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, including:

  • Cellular networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Wireless sensor networks
  • Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications

Problems Solved

The patent application addresses the following problems in wireless communications:

  • Efficient management of data packets with different expiration times.
  • Optimizing the transmission of data packets based on their expiration times.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of time-sensitive data packets.

Benefits

The technology described in the patent application offers several benefits:

  • Improved reliability and efficiency in wireless communications.
  • Enhanced management of data packets with expiration times.
  • Optimal utilization of network resources.
  • Timely delivery of time-sensitive data packets.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to generate a set of data packets that are to be transmitted to a base station, where each data packet of the set of data packets is associated with a respective packet expiration time. The UE may transmit an indication of packet expiration information associated with the set of data packets, where the packet expiration information is based on a set of packet expiration times associated with the set of data packets. The UE may receive, from the base station, scheduling information associated with at least a subset of the set of data packets, where the scheduling information is based on the packet expiration information. The UE may then transmit at least one data packet of the subset data packets to the base station in accordance with the scheduling information.
