ASSISTED COLLABORATIVE NAVIGATION IN SCREEN SHARE ENVIRONMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17456243 titled 'ASSISTED COLLABORATIVE NAVIGATION IN SCREEN SHARE ENVIRONMENTS

Simplified Explanation

The present invention is a method, computer system, and computer program product for assisted collaborative navigation in a screen share environment. It involves providing guidance to a user based on feedback from another user.

  • Identifying an action for a first user to perform on a computing device based on feedback from a second user.
  • Determining if the identified action is not being performed on the computing device.
  • Displaying a user interface (UI) guidance on the computing device to assist the first user in performing the identified action.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Remote technical support: The method can be used to guide a user through troubleshooting steps or performing specific actions on their device.
  • Collaborative work: It can be used in a screen sharing session to assist a user in navigating through a shared document or application.
  • Training and education: The method can be utilized to provide step-by-step instructions to learners in a virtual classroom or online training environment.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Lack of guidance: Users may struggle to perform certain actions on their devices without proper guidance. This method provides real-time assistance to overcome this challenge.
  • Remote collaboration challenges: In a screen sharing session, it can be difficult for one user to guide another user through a task. This method simplifies the process by providing clear instructions.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved user experience: Users can receive real-time guidance, reducing frustration and improving overall satisfaction.
  • Enhanced collaboration: The method facilitates effective collaboration by providing clear instructions and guidance in a screen sharing environment.
  • Time and cost savings: By providing step-by-step instructions, the method can help users resolve issues more efficiently, reducing the need for extensive support or training.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method, computer system, and a computer program product for assisted collaborative navigation in a screen share environment is provided. The present invention may include identifying an action for a first user to perform on a computing device based on a feedback transmitted from a second user to the first user. The present invention may also include determining that the identified action is not being performed on the computing device. The present invention may further include displaying, on the computing device, a user interface (UI) guidance to assist the first user to perform the identified action associated with the feedback transmitted from the second user to the first user.
