SCHEDULING SIDELINK COMMUNICATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17443911 titled 'SCHEDULING SIDELINK COMMUNICATIONS

Simplified Explanation

Abstract Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes a wireless communication system where a user equipment (UE) can transmit information indicating a specific set of resources for periodic monitoring. The UE will be awake and actively monitoring for signals during certain periods of time, and will be in a sleep mode and not monitoring during other periods of time. The UE will use the indicated resources to monitor for signals during the awake periods.

  • The patent application describes a wireless communication system.
  • A user equipment (UE) can transmit information indicating a set of resources for periodic monitoring.
  • The information includes at least one awake period and at least one sleep period.
  • During the awake period, the UE will actively monitor for signals.
  • The UE will use the indicated resources to monitor for signals during the awake period.

Potential Applications

This technology can have potential applications in various wireless communication systems, including:

  • Internet of Things (IoT) networks
  • Smart city infrastructure
  • Vehicle-to-vehicle communication
  • Industrial automation
  • Remote monitoring systems

Problems Solved

This technology solves several problems in wireless communication systems, such as:

  • Efficient use of resources: By indicating specific resources for monitoring, the system can optimize the use of available resources.
  • Power consumption: The sleep mode during certain periods helps to conserve power, extending the battery life of the user equipment.
  • Signal detection: The UE actively monitors for signals during the awake periods, ensuring timely detection of important signals.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Improved efficiency: By optimizing resource usage and power consumption, the system becomes more efficient overall.
  • Extended battery life: The sleep mode during certain periods helps to conserve power, resulting in longer battery life for the user equipment.
  • Timely signal detection: The UE actively monitors for signals during the awake periods, ensuring important signals are detected promptly.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit information indicating a set of resources associated with periodic sidelink monitoring, the information indicating at least one first period of time during which the UE will remain awake and monitor for signals and at least one second period of time during which the UE will be in a sleep mode and not monitoring for signals. The UE may monitor for signals using at least one resource indicated by the information and during the at least one first period of time. Numerous other aspects are described.
