TRANSMISSION OF NOMINAL REPETITIONS OF DATA OVER AN UNLICENSED SPECTRUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17441636 titled 'TRANSMISSION OF NOMINAL REPETITIONS OF DATA OVER AN UNLICENSED SPECTRUM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method and apparatus for transmitting data over an unlicensed spectrum. Here are the key points:

  • The technology enables the transmission of nominal repetitions of data by a user equipment (UE) over an unlicensed spectrum used for both uplink and downlink transmissions.
  • The data is segmented into multiple actual repetitions of smaller portions.
  • The UE identifies an orphan symbol in one of the repetitions, which is a symbol that needs to be replaced.
  • The UE determines a filler symbol to replace the orphan symbol in the repetition.
  • The UE then transmits the multiple repetitions, including the filler symbol replacing the orphan symbol, to a base station over the unlicensed spectrum.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems using unlicensed spectrum.
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices transmitting data over unlicensed frequencies.
  • Mobile devices using unlicensed spectrum for data transmission.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient transmission of data over unlicensed spectrum.
  • Addressing the issue of orphan symbols in repetitions, ensuring reliable data transmission.
  • Optimizing the use of unlicensed spectrum for improved communication.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved reliability and robustness of data transmission over unlicensed spectrum.
  • Enhanced efficiency in utilizing the available spectrum.
  • Increased capacity for transmitting data over unlicensed frequencies.

Original Abstract Submitted

Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing transmission of nominal repetitions of data over an unlicensed spectrum. One or more nominal repetitions of data are to be transmitted by a user equipment (UE) over an unlicensed spectrum used for both uplink and downlink transmissions. The one or more nominal repetitions of the data are segmented into multiple actual repetitions of portions of the data. The UE identifies an orphan symbol in an actual repetition of the multiple actual repetitions of portions of the data, and determines a filler symbol to replace the orphan symbol in the actual repetition. In addition, the UE transmits the multiple actual repetitions including the filler symbol in replacement of the orphan symbol to a base station over the unlicensed spectrum.
