ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17434276 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR

Simplified Explanation

An electronic device is described in this patent application. The device is capable of pairing with external devices and performing various functions based on the content data received from these devices. Here are the key points:

  • The electronic device can identify when an event occurs that requires pairing with a second external device, while already paired with a first external device providing content data.
  • It releases the pairing with the first external device and establishes a new pairing with the second external device.
  • The electronic device can also be set up as the primary device for pairing with the first external device.
  • It transmits information about itself as the primary device to the first external device, enabling the pairing process with the first external device.
  • Based on the content data received from the first external device, the electronic device can output content and transmit the content data to the second external device.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Smartphones or tablets that can seamlessly switch between different external devices, such as speakers or displays, for audio or video playback.
  • Gaming consoles that can pair with multiple controllers or accessories, allowing for flexible multiplayer experiences.
  • Home automation systems that can connect to various smart devices and control them based on the content data received.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Simplifies the process of switching between different external devices, eliminating the need for manual re-pairing or setup.
  • Enables the use of multiple external devices simultaneously, enhancing the user experience and expanding the functionality of the electronic device.
  • Provides a seamless and uninterrupted flow of content data between the electronic device and the external devices.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved convenience and user experience by automating the pairing process and allowing for easy switching between external devices.
  • Enhanced versatility and flexibility in using the electronic device with different external devices.
  • Streamlined integration of multiple external devices, enabling a more immersive and interconnected ecosystem.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device identifies, in a state paired with a first external device providing content data, an occurrence of event for pairing with a second external device; releases the pairing with the first external device and performs the pairing with the second external device; sets up the electronic device as a primary device for pairing with the first external device; transmits information about the primary device to the first external device to perform the pairing with the first external device; and based on the content data received form the first external device, outputs content and transmits the content data to the second external device.
