TIMING CONTROLLER, DISPLAY DEVICE, AND SIGNAL ADJUSTMENT METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17424132 titled 'TIMING CONTROLLER, DISPLAY DEVICE, AND SIGNAL ADJUSTMENT METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a timing controller that adjusts the swing of a signal based on its bit error rate. It includes a receiving circuit, a timing control circuit, and multiple insertion loss circuits. The timing control circuit detects the bit error rate of a signal in a blanking interval and adjusts its swing accordingly. It also selects the appropriate insertion loss circuit based on the target swing value.

  • The timing controller receives N frames of signals and adjusts the swing of the (M-1)-frame signal.
  • The swing adjustment is based on the target swing value corresponding to the bit error rate of the (M-1)-frame signal.
  • The insertion loss circuit is selected based on the target swing value of the (M-1)-frame signal.
  • M and N are positive integers, where M is greater than 1 and less than or equal to N.

Potential Applications

  • Signal adjustment in timing controllers for various electronic devices.
  • Improving the quality and reliability of signals in display panels, monitors, and other visual output devices.

Problems Solved

  • Inaccurate swing of signals can lead to bit errors and reduced signal quality.
  • Existing timing controllers may not effectively adjust the swing based on the bit error rate.
  • Selecting the appropriate insertion loss circuit for swing adjustment can be challenging.

Benefits

  • Improved signal quality and reliability.
  • Enhanced performance of display panels and visual output devices.
  • Efficient adjustment of signal swing based on the bit error rate.

Original Abstract Submitted

A timing controller includes a receiving circuit, a timing control circuit, and a plurality of insertion loss circuits. The receiving circuit is configured to receive N frames of signals. The timing control circuit is configured to: detect a bit error rate of an (M-1)-frame signal in a blanking interval of an M-frame signal; adjust a swing of the (M-1)-frame signal according to a target swing value corresponding to the bit error rate of the (M-1)-frame signal; and select the corresponding insertion loss circuit according to the target swing value corresponding to the bit error rate of the (M-1)-frame signal, wherein M and N are both positive integers, and M is greater than 1 and less than or equal to N. The present disclosure is applied to signal adjustment of the timing controller.
