INTRA-BAND CARRIER AGGREGATION/DUAL CONNECTIVITY - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17388910 titled 'INTRA-BAND CARRIER AGGREGATION/DUAL CONNECTIVITY
Simplified Explanation
Abstract
The abstract describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It introduces the concept of a user equipment (UE) identifying a set of carriers within a frequency band for communication with a base station. The UE determines if a first parameter for communication over a carrier exceeds a threshold compared to other carriers and refrains from using that carrier if it does.
Patent/Innovation Explanation
- User equipment (UE) identifies carriers within a frequency band for communication with a base station.
- UE determines if a first parameter for communication over a carrier exceeds a threshold compared to other carriers.
- The first parameter can be a downlink reception parameter or an uplink transmission parameter.
- If the first parameter exceeds the threshold, the UE refrains from using that carrier for communication.
Potential Applications
- Wireless communication systems and devices.
- Mobile networks and cellular technologies.
- Improving the efficiency and performance of carrier aggregation or dual connectivity.
Problems Solved
- Addressing situations where a specific carrier in a frequency band may have poor reception or transmission parameters compared to other carriers.
- Optimizing the use of carriers in a frequency band for better overall communication performance.
Benefits
- Enhanced wireless communication performance by avoiding carriers with poor parameters.
- Improved efficiency and reliability of carrier aggregation or dual connectivity.
- Better utilization of available carriers for optimal communication.
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a set of carriers within a frequency band for communicating with a base station via either carrier aggregation or dual connectivity. The UE may determine that a first parameter for communications over a first carrier exceeds a threshold with respect to corresponding parameters of other carriers, the first parameter being either a downlink reception parameter or an uplink transmission parameter. The UE may refrain from communicating over the first carrier based at least in part on the first parameter exceeding the threshold.
