TECHNIQUES FOR PERFORMING TRACKING USING A PHYSICAL BROADCAST CHANNEL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17388839 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR PERFORMING TRACKING USING A PHYSICAL BROADCAST CHANNEL

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It focuses on a user equipment (UE) decoding and updating signals received over a broadcast channel during synchronization signal block (SSB) occasions.

  • The UE decodes a first signal received during a first SSB occasion to identify a first payload.
  • It determines the expected changes between the first payload and a second payload of a second signal to be received during a second SSB occasion.
  • The UE updates the first payload with the expected changes to determine an updated first payload.
  • The updated first payload is encoded as an updated first signal.
  • The UE receives the second signal during the second SSB occasion and applies both the second signal and the updated first signal to a tracking procedure.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems and devices
  • Mobile networks and devices
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • 5G and future generations of wireless networks

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient decoding and updating of signals in wireless communication systems
  • Improved synchronization and tracking procedures for user equipment
  • Enhanced reliability and accuracy of signal reception

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved signal decoding and tracking performance
  • Enhanced reliability and accuracy of wireless communication
  • Increased efficiency and effectiveness of user equipment in receiving signals

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may decode a first signal received over a broadcast channel during a first synchronization signal block (SSB) occasion to identify a first payload, and determine one or more expected changes between the first payload and a second payload of a second signal expected to be received over the broadcast channel during a second SSB occasion. The UE may update the first payload with the one or more expected changes to determine an updated first payload, and encode the updated first payload as an updated first signal. The UE may receive the second signal over the broadcast channel during the second SSB occasion, and apply the second signal and the updated first signal to a tracking procedure for the UE.
