INTEGRATED ACCESS AND BACKHAUL SIDELINK FUNCTION CONTROL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17385181 titled 'INTEGRATED ACCESS AND BACKHAUL SIDELINK FUNCTION CONTROL

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. Specifically, it focuses on a base station's selection of a distributed unit (DU) associated with an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node to control sidelink communications for a user equipment (UE). The base station determines the configuration of sidelink parameters, including the identification of the selected DU, and transmits this information to the IAB node.

  • The base station selects a DU from a set of DUs associated with an IAB node for controlling sidelink communications with a UE.
  • The base station determines the configuration of sidelink parameters, including the identification of the selected DU.
  • The base station transmits the configuration of sidelink parameters to the IAB node responsible for sidelink communications with the UE.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems to enhance sidelink communications between base stations and user equipment.
  • It can improve the efficiency and reliability of wireless networks by optimizing the selection and configuration of DUs for sidelink communications.

Problems Solved

  • The technology solves the problem of efficiently selecting and configuring DUs for sidelink communications in wireless networks.
  • It addresses the challenge of optimizing sidelink parameters to ensure reliable and effective communication between base stations and user equipment.

Benefits

  • By selecting the most suitable DU for sidelink communications, this technology improves the overall performance and reliability of wireless networks.
  • The optimized configuration of sidelink parameters enhances the efficiency of communication between base stations and user equipment.
  • The technology enables seamless and reliable sidelink communications, leading to improved user experience and network performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station (e.g., a central unit (CU) function of the base station) may select, from a set of distributed units (DUs) associated with the CU, a DU of an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node to control sidelink communications for a user equipment (UE). The base station may determine a configuration of sidelink parameters for the sidelink communications with the UE, the sidelink parameters comprising an identification of the selected DU. The base station may transmit, to the TAB node performing sidelink communications with the UE, an indication of the configuration of sidelink parameters for the sidelink communications.
