INTEGRATED ACCESS AND BACKHAUL SIDELINK COMMUNICATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17385158 titled 'INTEGRATED ACCESS AND BACKHAUL SIDELINK COMMUNICATIONS
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It introduces a technique where a first user equipment (UE) receives an indication from an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node that it supports sidelink communications. The indication can be broadcasted by the IAB node or indicated through an established connection like a radio resource control (RRC) connection. Based on this indication, the first UE can select the IAB node to relay communications between itself and a second wireless node. The UE can then communicate data messages with the second wireless node through the IAB node.
- First UE receives indication from IAB node supporting sidelink communications
- Indication can be broadcasted or indicated via an established connection
- First UE selects IAB node to relay communications with second wireless node
- Data messages are communicated between UE and second wireless node through IAB node
Potential Applications
This technology has potential applications in various wireless communication scenarios, including:
- Internet of Things (IoT) networks
- Smart cities and infrastructure
- Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications
- Industrial automation and control systems
- Emergency response and public safety networks
Problems Solved
The described technology addresses the following problems in wireless communications:
- Limited coverage and capacity of traditional wireless networks
- Inefficient relay of communications between wireless nodes
- Lack of support for sidelink communications in existing systems
- Difficulty in establishing reliable and direct connections between wireless nodes
Benefits
The use of this technology offers several benefits in wireless communications:
- Enhanced coverage and capacity through the use of IAB nodes
- Improved reliability and efficiency in relaying communications
- Support for sidelink communications enables direct communication between wireless nodes
- Flexibility in selecting the most suitable IAB node for relaying communications
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a first user equipment (UE) receiving, from an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, an indication that the IAB node supports sidelink communications. The indication may be broadcast by the IAB node or indicated via an established connection, such as a radio resource control (RRC) connection. The first UE may select the IAB node to relay communications between the first UE and a second wireless node based at least in part on the indication that the IAB node supports sidelink communications. The UE may communicate one or more data messages with the second wireless node via the IAB node in accordance the selecting of the IAB node to relay the communications.
