DEVICE AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING SIGNAL IN MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 16489946 titled 'DEVICE AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING SIGNAL IN MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for a transmission device in a multimedia system. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The method detects a request to change the type of data being played in a multimedia system.
  • It transmits necessary information for replaying the data that was played before the requested change.
  • This allows for a smooth transition between different types of data in the multimedia system.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various multimedia systems, including:

  • Streaming services: It can be used to seamlessly switch between different types of media content, such as switching from a video to an audio stream.
  • Gaming consoles: It can enable smooth transitions between different game modes or levels, preserving the progress made by the player.
  • Virtual reality systems: It can facilitate the transition between different virtual environments or experiences without interruption.

Problems Solved

The method described in the patent application solves several problems in multimedia systems, including:

  • Interruptions during media playback: By transmitting necessary information before playing the new data, interruptions or delays in the transition between different types of media can be minimized or eliminated.
  • Data loss or inconsistency: The method ensures that data played prior to the requested change is preserved and can be seamlessly replayed, preventing any loss or inconsistency in the multimedia experience.

Benefits

The use of this technology offers several benefits in multimedia systems:

  • Seamless transitions: Users can switch between different types of media without experiencing interruptions or delays, providing a smooth and uninterrupted multimedia experience.
  • Preservation of progress: In applications like gaming, the method ensures that the progress made by the user is preserved during transitions, avoiding the need to start over or lose any achievements.
  • Enhanced user experience: By minimizing interruptions and preserving data, the technology enhances the overall user experience in multimedia systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of a transmission device in a multimedia system comprises the steps of: detecting a request for changing first-type data into second-type data while the first-type data is being played at a given point in time; and transmitting, before the second-type data is played, information necessary for replaying data, among the first-type data, played prior to the given point in time, and/or data, among the second-type data, played prior to the given point in time.
