DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17892966 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a display device with a display panel that includes a transistor, an insulating layer, a light emitting element, and a stopper pattern. It also mentions a pixel definition layer and a thin film encapsulation layer.

  • The display panel of the device includes a transistor, an insulating layer, a light emitting element, and a stopper pattern.
  • The light emitting element is electrically connected to the transistor and includes a first electrode, a light emitting layer, and a second electrode.
  • A pixel definition layer is provided on the stopper pattern, with a first opening extending through it to the first electrode and a second opening extending to the stopper pattern.
  • A thin film encapsulation layer is disposed on the pixel definition layer and inside the second opening, covering the light emitting element.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices such as televisions, computer monitors, and smartphones.
  • Wearable devices with display capabilities.
  • Automotive displays and instrument clusters.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Improved display panel structure with enhanced insulation and protection.
  • Efficient electrical connection between the transistor and the light emitting element.
  • Precise definition of pixels for better image quality.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced durability and reliability of the display panel.
  • Improved image quality and color accuracy.
  • Increased lifespan of the display device.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a display panel. The display panel includes a transistor, an insulating layer disposed on the transistor, a light emitting element electrically connected to the transistor and including a first electrode disposed on the insulating layer, a light emitting layer disposed on the first electrode, and a second electrode disposed on the light emitting layer, a stopper pattern disposed spaced apart from the first electrode, a pixel definition layer provided on the stopper pattern. A first opening extends through the pixel definition layer to the first electrode, and a second opening extends through the pixel defining layer to the stopper pattern. A thin film encapsulation layer disposed on the pixel definition layer and inside the second opening, covering the light emitting element.
