DISPLAY PANEL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240324354 titled 'DISPLAY PANEL

The abstract describes a display panel with a light-emitting element, a transistor, a connection line, organic layers, and a pixel defining layer.

  • Light-emitting element with first electrode, second electrode, and intermediate layer
  • Transistor connected to the light-emitting element
  • Connection line with driving connection part and emission connection part
  • Organic layers between transistor and connection line, and between transistor and light-emitting element
  • Pixel defining layer with first opening overlapping first electrode and second opening spaced apart
  • Second electrode connected to emission connection part and spaced apart in cross-sectional view

Potential Applications: - Display screens for electronic devices - Lighting panels for signage or decorative purposes

Problems Solved: - Improved efficiency and performance of display panels - Enhanced brightness and color accuracy

Benefits: - Higher quality display output - Energy-efficient operation - Longer lifespan of the display panel

Commercial Applications: - Consumer electronics industry - Advertising and signage industry

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the organic layer contribute to the performance of the display panel? 2. What advantages does the pixel defining layer provide in terms of display quality and functionality?

Original Abstract Submitted

a display panel is disclosed that includes a light-emitting element including a first electrode, a second electrode, and an intermediate layer, a transistor electrically connected to the light-emitting element, a connection line including a driving connection part connected to the transistor and an emission connection part connected to the second electrode, a first organic layer arranged between the transistor and the connection line, a second organic layer arranged on the first organic layer and between the transistor and the light-emitting element, and a pixel defining layer arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode and having defined therein a first opening overlapping at least a portion of the first electrode and a second opening spaced apart from the first opening, wherein the second electrode includes one end connected to the emission connection part and another end spaced apart from the one end in a cross-sectional view.
