IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240210852 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes various components such as an image bearing member, a developing unit with a detachable supply container, developer amount acquiring portions, notifying portions, a storing portion, a setting portion, and a controller.

  • The controller is responsible for controlling the operation of the apparatus in an operation mode where a developer image can be formed by the developing unit until the supply container is exchanged after receiving a notification from the notifying portion.
  • The setting portion determines the start developer amount, which is the developer amount in the accommodating portion at the beginning of the operation in the operation mode, based on exchange number information.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various printing and imaging devices to ensure efficient developer usage and maintenance. - It can be applied in office printers, copiers, and industrial printing machines to optimize developer amounts and improve overall image quality.

Problems Solved: - Efficient developer usage and maintenance. - Optimization of developer amounts for better image quality. - Streamlining the process of exchanging supply containers.

Benefits: - Improved image quality. - Cost-effective developer usage. - Reduced maintenance requirements.

Commercial Applications: Title: "Efficient Developer Control Technology for Printing Devices" This technology can be utilized in the manufacturing of office printers, copiers, and industrial printing machines to enhance image quality, reduce maintenance costs, and improve overall efficiency in printing operations.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the setting portion determine the start developer amount in the image forming apparatus? 2. What are the key benefits of using this technology in office printers and copiers?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a developing unit to which a supply container is detachably mountable, a first developer amount acquiring portion, a second developer amount acquiring portion, a first notifying portion, a storing portion, a setting portion, a second notifying portion, and a controller. this controller carries out control so as to be capable of executing an operation in an operation mode in which a developer image is capable of being formed by the developing unit, until the supply container connected to the developing unit is exchanged after first notification is provided by the first notifying portion. the setting portion sets a start developer amount, which is a developer amount of a developer in the accommodating portion at a time of a start of the operation in the operation mode, depending on the exchange number information.
