METHOD OF OBTAINING A USER-SELECTED ANGLE OF VIEW FROM AMONG A PLURALITY OF ANGLES OF VIEW OF RESPECTIVE CAMERAS AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE SUPPORTING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18614478 titled 'METHOD OF OBTAINING A USER-SELECTED ANGLE OF VIEW FROM AMONG A PLURALITY OF ANGLES OF VIEW OF RESPECTIVE CAMERAS AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE SUPPORTING THE SAME

The abstract describes an electronic device with two cameras, a touchscreen display, and a processor that can activate and display images from the cameras based on input events.

  • The device has a first camera with a wide angle of view and a second camera with a narrower angle of view.
  • The processor can activate the first camera and display the image on the touchscreen.
  • It can crop the image from the first camera to match the second camera's angle of view in response to a first input event.
  • The processor can then display the cropped image on the touchscreen.
  • The second camera can be activated in response to a second input event, and its image can be displayed on the touchscreen.

Potential Applications: - Surveillance systems - Photography and videography equipment - Augmented reality applications

Problems Solved: - Providing different perspectives with varying angles of view - Enhancing user experience by allowing for easy switching between cameras

Benefits: - Improved versatility in capturing images and videos - Enhanced user control and customization options

Commercial Applications: Title: "Multi-Camera Electronic Device for Enhanced Imaging" This technology could be used in smartphones, tablets, and other consumer electronics to improve photography and video capabilities, catering to a wide range of users from casual photographers to professionals.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the device determine when to switch between the two cameras? - The processor analyzes the input events to determine when to activate each camera based on the user's actions. 2. Can the device simultaneously capture images from both cameras? - No, the device can only activate and display images from one camera at a time.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device including: a housing; a first camera having a first angle of view; a second camera having a second angle of view that is smaller than the first angle of view; a touchscreen display; and a processor. The processor is configured to: based on a photographing direction of the first camera and a photographing direction of the second camera being substantially the same, activate the first camera; display a first image acquired via the first camera on the display; acquire a second image by cropping the first image in accordance with the second angle of view, in response to reception of a first input event; display the second image on the display; activate the second camera in response to reception of a second input event; and display a third image acquired via the second camera on the display.
