LIGHT EMITTING DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18508870 titled 'LIGHT EMITTING DISPLAY DEVICE

The patent application describes a light-emitting display device with specific structural features.

  • The device includes a substrate, anodes, a pixel defining layer, emission layers, a cathode, an encapsulation layer, and a light blocking layer.
  • The pixel defining layer has first openings overlapping the anodes, while the emission layers are within these openings.
  • The cathode is formed on the emission layers and the pixel defining layer, followed by an encapsulation layer and a light blocking layer.
  • The light blocking layer has second openings corresponding to the first openings, with oval shapes in a plan view and varying long-axis angles.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in the manufacturing of high-resolution displays for electronic devices. - It can also be applied in the development of energy-efficient lighting solutions for various settings.

Problems Solved: - The device addresses the need for improved display quality and efficiency in electronic devices. - It also solves the challenge of creating uniform and bright light emission in lighting applications.

Benefits: - Enhanced display performance with high resolution and brightness. - Energy efficiency and durability in lighting applications.

Commercial Applications: "Light-Emitting Display Device for High-Resolution Electronic Displays and Energy-Efficient Lighting Solutions"

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the oval shape of the openings contribute to the performance of the display device? 2. What are the specific advantages of having varying long-axis angles in the second openings of the light blocking layer?

Original Abstract Submitted

A light emitting display device includes a substrate, a plurality of anodes on the substrate, a pixel defining layer having a plurality of first openings overlapping the anodes, a plurality of emission layers in the first openings of the pixel defining layer, a cathode formed on the emission layers and the pixel defining layer, an encapsulation layer on the cathode, and a light blocking layer on the encapsulation layer and having a plurality of second openings corresponding to the first openings, wherein the first openings and the second openings respectively have an oval shape in a plan view, and wherein long-axis angles of the second openings include at least five different angles.
