CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18396988 titled 'CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

Simplified Explanation:

The patent application describes a connector assembly with two connectors, one fixed to a metal case and the other connectable to the first connector. The first connector has a housing and a terminal, while the second connector has a housing that can be connected to the first housing by moving along a connection direction. The second connector also includes a terminal connected to the first terminal when the housings are connected, and a sealing rubber to prevent water ingress between the housings. The first housing has a temporary holding portion to hold the second housing in a pre-connected state.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Connector assembly with two connectors for secure connection.
  • First connector fixed to a metal case, second connector connectable to the first.
  • Sealing rubber in the second connector prevents water ingress.
  • Temporary holding portion in the first housing for pre-connection.

Potential Applications: The connector assembly can be used in various electronic devices, automotive applications, industrial machinery, and more where secure and waterproof connections are required.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses the issues of secure connection and water ingress prevention in connector assemblies, ensuring reliable performance in various environments.

Benefits:

  • Secure and waterproof connection.
  • Reliable performance in different conditions.
  • Easy assembly and disassembly for maintenance.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be applied in the manufacturing of electronic devices, automotive components, industrial machinery, and other products requiring secure and waterproof connectors.

Questions about Connector Assembly: 1. How does the temporary holding portion in the first housing improve the assembly process? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this connector assembly in different industries?

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on the latest advancements in connector assembly technologies, waterproofing methods, and industrial applications for secure connectors.

Original Abstract Submitted

A connector assembly is provided with a first connector to be fixed to a metal case and a second connector connectable to the first connector. The first connector includes a first housing and a first terminal. The second connector includes a second housing connectable to the first housing by being relatively moved along a connection direction with respect to the first housing, a second terminal connected to the first terminal in a housing connected state where the second housing is connected to the first housing, and a sealing rubber held in the second housing to stop water between the first and second housings in the housing connected state. The first housing includes a temporary holding portion for temporarily holding the second housing by a friction force with the sealing rubber in a pre-connected state before the housing connected state.
