BATTERY PACK HOUSING AND BATTERY PACK INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18331176 titled 'BATTERY PACK HOUSING AND BATTERY PACK INCLUDING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The battery pack housing described in the abstract includes a base portion, a side beam, and an accommodating portion surrounded by the base portion and the side beam. The side beam and base portion contain a frame of a hollow structure filled with a thermally deformable material.

  • Base portion, side beam, and accommodating portion make up the battery pack housing.
  • The side beam and base portion have a frame of a hollow structure filled with a thermally deformable material.

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in various industries such as electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and renewable energy storage systems.

Problems Solved

The housing design helps in dissipating heat generated by the battery pack, preventing overheating and potential damage to the batteries.

Benefits

- Improved thermal management for battery packs - Enhanced safety and longevity of batteries - Potential for increased energy efficiency

Potential Commercial Applications

"Thermally Deformable Material Filled Battery Pack Housing for Enhanced Thermal Management"

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to battery pack housings with thermal management features, but specific examples are not provided in this abstract.

Unanswered Questions

How does the thermally deformable material contribute to the overall performance of the battery pack housing?

The abstract mentions the use of a thermally deformable material, but it does not elaborate on how this material specifically enhances the functionality of the housing.

Are there any specific testing results or performance data available for this battery pack housing design?

The abstract does not mention any testing results or performance data related to the battery pack housing, leaving uncertainty about its effectiveness compared to existing solutions.

Original Abstract Submitted

A battery pack housing according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a base portion; a side beam formed on an outer circumference of the base portion; and an accommodating portion defined as an internal space surrounded by the base portion and the side beam, wherein at least a portion of one or more of the side beam and the base portion includes a frame of a hollow structure and a thermally deformable material filled inside the frame.
