COORDINATION FOR ACCESS LINK DISCONTINUOUS RECEPTION AND SIDELINK ALIGNMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17535401 titled 'COORDINATION FOR ACCESS LINK DISCONTINUOUS RECEPTION AND SIDELINK ALIGNMENT

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It focuses on a sidelink discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration for communications between two user equipment (UE) devices.

  • The first base station or base station component receives an assistance information message associated with the sidelink DRX configuration for communication between the first UE and a second UE.
  • The first base station transmits the received assistance information message to a second base station or base station component.
  • The first and second base stations communicate with each other through a direct link or an interface.
  • The second base station transmits an indication of the sidelink DRX configuration for the first UE to the first base station via the interface.
  • The first base station then transmits the sidelink DRX configuration to the first UE, along with an access link DRX configuration for the first UE.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems that involve multiple base stations and user equipment devices.
  • Efficient management of sidelink discontinuous reception (DRX) configurations for improved communication between UE devices.
  • Enhancing the performance and reliability of wireless communication networks.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Simplifies the process of configuring sidelink DRX for communication between UE devices.
  • Facilitates seamless communication handover between different base stations.
  • Improves the overall efficiency and reliability of wireless communication systems.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced communication reliability and performance between UE devices.
  • Efficient management of sidelink DRX configurations, reducing unnecessary power consumption.
  • Simplified configuration and handover processes for base stations and UE devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a first base station or a base station component may receive an assistance information message associated with a sidelink discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration for communications between the first UE and a second UE. The first base station may transmit the assistance information message received from the first UE to a second base station or a second base station component. The first base station and the second base station may communicate with one another via a direct link or an interface, and the second base station may transmit an indication of the sidelink DRX configuration for the first UE to the first base station via the interface. The first base station may then transmit the sidelink DRX configuration to the first UE, along with an access link DRX configuration for the first UE.
