Abstract: a light-emitting device having favorable characteristics is provided. the light-emitting device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, an intermediate layer therebetween, a first light-emitting layer, a second light-emitting layer, a first electron-transport layer, and a second electron-transport layer. the first light-emitting layer is between the first electrode and the intermediate layer. the second light-emitting layer is between the intermediate layer and the second electrode. the first electron-transport layer is between the first light-emitting layer and the intermediate layer. the second electron-transport layer is between the second light-emitting layer and the second electrode. the second electron-transport layer has a stacked-layer structure. the intermediate layer contains a second organic compound having a phenanthroline skeleton. the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer contain the same emission center substance. the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer are separated from a light-emitting layer of at least one of a plurality of adjacent light-emitting devices.
