Abstract: an aerosol generating device for generating an aerosol from aerosol-generating material is provided. a receptacle is arranged to receive at least a portion of an article containing aerosol-generating material. the receptacle defines a heating zone in which the portion of the article is heated. a stop is arranged to abut an end of the portion of the article received in the receptacle to limit an extent of insertion of the portion of the article into the heating zone. the stop is arranged to move between a first stop position to provide a first usable depth (d) of the heating zone, and a second stop position to provide a second, different, usable depth (d) of the heating zone.
