CROSSFLOW SETTING DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240011275 titled 'CROSSFLOW SETTING DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a stormwater treatment device that utilizes a crossflow settling device to remove sediment from stormwater. The device includes a front baffle, a rear baffle, and pairs of angled plates placed between them. Stormwater flows into the device through an inlet chamber, then into a treatment channel via an opening in the front baffle. The water then flows in a crossflow pattern, causing sediment to settle out of suspension and exit the device through openings at the bottom of the angled plates.
- The stormwater treatment device includes a crossflow settling device with a treatment channel.
- The device has a front baffle, a rear baffle, and pairs of angled plates.
- Stormwater enters the device through an inlet chamber and flows into the treatment channel.
- The crossflow pattern of the water causes sediment to settle out of suspension.
- Sediment is removed from the device through openings at the bottom of the angled plates.
Potential Applications:
- Stormwater management systems
- Water treatment facilities
- Industrial sites with stormwater runoff
Problems Solved:
- Removal of sediment from stormwater
- Prevention of sediment pollution in water bodies
- Compliance with environmental regulations for stormwater management
Benefits:
- Improved water quality
- Reduced sediment pollution
- Compliance with environmental regulations
- Cost-effective stormwater treatment solution
Original Abstract Submitted
a stormwater treatment device may include a crossflow settling device having a treatment channel defined by a front baffle, a rear baffle, and a pairs angled plates provided at supplementary angles therebetween and disposed between the front baffle and the rear baffle, the front baffle having a treatment channel opening and the rear baffle having a treatment channel outlet. under normal flow, stormwater flows into the inlet and into the inlet chamber, into the treatment channel via the treatment channel opening, into the outlet chamber via the treatment channel outlet in a crossflow pattern causing the sediment to fall out of suspension, and out of the crossflow setting device through openings at the bottom of the pairs of angled plates.
