This application provides a signal transmission method and a communication apparatus. In one example, first information is received. The first information includes a first field, the first field is used to determine a code length of a first mask, the code length of the first mask is comprised in a first value set, and the first value set comprises one or more of the following values: 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. A reference signal is determined based on the first mask. The reference signal is sent or received.
