Radio Network Node, Network Node, and Methods Performed in a Wireless Communication Network - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18031452 titled 'Radio Network Node, Network Node, and Methods Performed in a Wireless Communication Network

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method used by a network node in a wireless communication network to handle communication with a user equipment (UE) that is connected to two radio network nodes simultaneously.

  • The network node calculates the average delay of packet transmission.
  • Weighting is applied to the number of packets sent through each radio network node when no packet duplication is used.
  • Weighting is also applied for calculating the delay for periods or packets with duplication and without duplication.
  • The method aims to optimize the communication process and improve the overall performance of the wireless network.

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a network node for handling communication in a wireless communication network comprising a first radio network node and a second radio network node providing dual connectivity to a UE (). The network node calculates an average delay of a packet transmission, wherein weighting is applied to a number of packets respectively sent via the first radio network node and the second radio network node when no packet duplication is applied, and wherein weighting is further applied for a respective delay calculation for one or more periods or packets with duplication, and the periods or packets without duplication.
