VEHICLE IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM, VEHICLE IMAGE DISPLAY METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240129638 titled 'VEHICLE IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM, VEHICLE IMAGE DISPLAY METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The vehicle image display system described in the patent application includes several key components:

  • Display device for showing digital images based on image data
  • Dark condition determination unit to assess if the surrounding environment is dark
  • Luminance determination unit to identify high luminance pixels in the image data
  • Pixel value determination unit to check for low pixel value pixels in the image
  • Image adjustment unit for modifying brightness based on dark conditions, high luminance pixels, and pixel values

---

      1. Potential Applications of this Technology

1. Automotive industry for enhancing visibility and safety in dark conditions 2. Display systems in vehicles for better image quality adjustment based on surroundings

      1. Problems Solved by this Technology

1. Improving visibility and image quality in low light environments 2. Enhancing user experience by adjusting image brightness accordingly

      1. Benefits of this Technology

1. Increased safety on the road by optimizing image display in dark conditions 2. Enhanced user comfort and convenience with automatic brightness adjustments

      1. Potential Commercial Applications of this Technology
        1. Optimizing Image Display in Vehicles for Safety and Comfort
      1. Possible Prior Art

There may be existing systems or methods for adjusting image brightness based on environmental conditions, but the specific combination of dark condition determination, luminance determination, and pixel value determination as described in this patent application may be novel.

---

      1. Unanswered Questions
        1. How does this system differentiate between different levels of darkness in the environment?

The patent application does not provide specific details on how the dark condition determination unit distinguishes between varying levels of darkness.

        1. What impact does the adjustment of image brightness have on overall power consumption in the vehicle?

The patent application does not address the potential effects of the image adjustment process on the vehicle's power usage.

Original Abstract Submitted

a vehicle image display system includes: a display device for displaying a digital image which is an image based on image data, a dark condition determination unit for determining whether a dark condition is satisfied with respect to the brightness of a surrounding environment of the vehicle, a luminance determination unit for determining whether the image data includes a high luminance pixel, a pixel value determination unit for determining whether a pixel having a pixel value equal to or lower than a second threshold value is not included in a peripheral pixel, and an image adjustment unit for performing a first brightness adjustment process for reducing the brightness of the image data when the dark condition is satisfied and the image data includes a high luminance pixel and the peripheral pixel does not include a pixel having a pixel value equal to or lower than the second threshold value.
