VEHICLE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240112291 titled 'VEHICLE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a vehicle information management device that can determine if a planned vehicle boarding position has a suitable road surface height for deploying a ramp for boarding. If the height is not suitable, the device can propose a change of boarding position to the user.

  • Processor configured to acquire road surface information before a vehicle arrives at a planned boarding area.
  • Determine if the road surface height at the boarding position allows for ramp deployment.
  • Propose a change of boarding position if the height is not suitable.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in transportation services, particularly for vehicles with ramps for boarding passengers with mobility challenges.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the issue of passengers with mobility challenges being unable to board a vehicle due to unsuitable road surface heights at boarding positions.

Benefits

The device enhances accessibility for passengers with mobility challenges, ensuring they can board vehicles safely and efficiently.

Potential Commercial Applications

This technology could be utilized by public transportation services, ride-sharing companies, and private transportation providers to improve accessibility for passengers with mobility challenges.

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to vehicle boarding systems that consider road surface conditions, but specific examples would need to be researched.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology handle situations where multiple boarding positions are available at a planned vehicle boarding area?

The device could potentially analyze all available boarding positions and recommend the most suitable one based on road surface height for ramp deployment.

Can the device provide real-time updates to users if road surface conditions change unexpectedly?

The device could potentially incorporate real-time data on road surface conditions to provide users with immediate updates and alternative boarding position suggestions if needed.

Original Abstract Submitted

a vehicle information management device includes: a processor, wherein the processor is configured to: before a vehicle arrives at a planned vehicle boarding area of a user, acquire road surface information of the planned vehicle boarding area; based on the road surface information, determine whether or not a road surface height of a planned vehicle boarding position, at which the user is waiting at the planned vehicle boarding area, is a height at which a ramp of the vehicle can be deployed; and in a case in which the road surface height is determined to not be a height at which the ramp can be deployed, propose a change of the planned vehicle boarding position to the user.
