METHOD FOR DISTRIBUTING BALANCING POWER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240092222 titled 'METHOD FOR DISTRIBUTING BALANCING POWER

Simplified Explanation

The method described in the patent application involves distributing balancing power among electrified vehicle groups and other resources in a demand response scenario. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • Preferentially assigning control power from electrified vehicle groups to required balancing power for each group, within the limit of their power supply capabilities.
  • Assigning the remaining balancing power to other resources after the initial assignment to electrified vehicles.
    • Potential Applications of this Technology:**

- Smart grid management systems - Demand response programs - Electric vehicle charging infrastructure

    • Problems Solved by this Technology:**

- Efficient distribution of balancing power in demand response scenarios - Optimizing the use of electrified vehicle groups as a power resource

    • Benefits of this Technology:**

- Improved grid stability - Reduced reliance on traditional power plants for balancing power - Increased utilization of electrified vehicles in grid management

    • Potential Commercial Applications of this Technology:**

- Energy management software for utilities - Electric vehicle fleet management systems - Demand response service providers

    • Possible Prior Art:**

There may be prior art related to demand response systems and grid management technologies that involve the use of distributed energy resources for balancing power. However, specific examples would need to be researched to determine if they are similar to the method described in this patent application.

    • Unanswered Questions:**
    • 1. How does this method handle fluctuations in power demand from electrified vehicle groups?**

- The abstract does not provide details on how the method adjusts for varying power requirements from electrified vehicle groups over time.

    • 2. What communication protocols are used between the electrified vehicles and the central control system?**

- The abstract does not mention the specific communication standards or technologies employed for coordinating the distribution of balancing power.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method for distributing balancing power, the method comprising, preferentially assigning, when a demand response is performed using a plurality of electrified vehicle groups including one or more electrified vehicles each of which includes a communication unit and a balancing resource that is able to supply power to an outside, an integral multiple of control power of each of the electrified vehicle groups to required balancing power required for each of the electrified vehicle groups in target balancing power within a limit of balancing power that each of the electrified vehicle groups is able to supply, and assigning remaining balancing power of the target balancing power to required balancing power required for another resource other than the electrified vehicles, after assigning integral multiple of control power of each of the electrified vehicle groups to required balancing power required for each of the electrified vehicle groups in the target balancing power.
