ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR DETERMINING LOCATION INFORMATION OF EXTERNAL ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240129574 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR DETERMINING LOCATION INFORMATION OF EXTERNAL ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device for controlling devices by determining control areas and registering an overlap area as an envelope for a target device.

  • The electronic device includes a communication module, memory, and at least one processor.
  • The processor determines a target device, first control area, second control area, and registers an overlap area as the envelope for the target device.

This technology could be applied in home automation systems, security systems, and industrial control systems.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of efficiently controlling multiple devices within a specified area.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved device control, enhanced automation capabilities, and increased efficiency in managing devices.

Potential Commercial Applications

The potential commercial applications of this technology could be in smart home devices, security systems, and industrial automation solutions.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be existing device control systems that use predefined control areas for managing devices.

What are the specific devices that can be controlled using this technology?

This article does not specify the specific devices that can be controlled using this technology. It only mentions controlling "devices" in general.

How does this technology handle communication between the electronic device and the target devices?

The abstract does not provide details on how communication is handled between the electronic device and the target devices. It focuses more on determining control areas and registering envelopes for target devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic device for controlling devices includes: a communication module configured to communicate with the devices; a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions; and at least one processor. the at least one processor when executing the instructions by accessing the memory is configured to: determine a target device of which an envelope is to be registered among the devices, determine a first control area for the target device based on (i) first coordinates of a location of the electronic device in a preset coordinate system, (ii) a first direction from the first coordinates to the target device, and (iii) a field of view (fov) for the target device, determine a second control area for the target device, and register an overlap area as the envelope for the target device, the overlap area being where the first control area and the second control area overlap.
