Methods, systems, and devices for road usage charging (RUC) are being described in this abstract. The computation of RUC can be done by a trusted vehicle computing device (VCD) that is used by a service provider or a charger. The VCD is responsible for collecting accurate time and location data for RUC and calculating the RUC charge based on applicable charge policies. To ensure privacy, certain portions of the RUC data can be encrypted in a way that makes it difficult to identify specific vehicle, location, and time information.
