WAITING TIME PREDICTION SYSTEM, WAITING TIME PREDICTION METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240104477 titled 'WAITING TIME PREDICTION SYSTEM, WAITING TIME PREDICTION METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The present invention provides a waiting time prediction system that uses image analysis to accurately compute the waiting time until a product or service is received in a store.

  • Image acquisition unit: Acquires an image of a worker's workspace in a store.
  • Work process determination unit: Determines the work process being performed by the worker based on the captured image.
  • Waiting time computation unit: Computes the waiting time until a product or service is provided in the store based on the determined work process.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various industries such as retail, healthcare, and hospitality to improve customer service and optimize workflow efficiency.

Problems Solved

1. Inaccurate waiting time predictions for customers. 2. Inefficient work processes in stores leading to delays in service.

Benefits

1. Enhanced customer satisfaction. 2. Improved operational efficiency. 3. Better resource allocation.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing customer service in retail stores Improving patient flow in healthcare facilities Enhancing guest experience in hotels and restaurants

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be a system that uses RFID technology to track the movement of workers and predict waiting times based on their location within a store.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system handle variations in work processes throughout the day?

The system may need to be trained on a wide range of work processes to accurately predict waiting times in different scenarios.

What measures are in place to protect the privacy of workers captured in the images?

There should be strict protocols in place to ensure that the privacy of workers is maintained and that the images are used solely for the purpose of predicting waiting times.

Original Abstract Submitted

to more accurately compute a waiting time until an ordered product is received and a service is received, the present invention provides a waiting time prediction system including an image acquisition unit that acquires an image in which a workspace of a worker in a store that provides a product or a service is captured; a work process determination unit that determines which work process is performed by the worker at a point in time at which the image is captured, based on the image; and a waiting time computation unit that computes a waiting time until a product or a service in the store is provided, based on a determination result of the work process.
