ELECTRONIC PEDAL APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240116361 titled 'ELECTRONIC PEDAL APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The electronic pedal apparatus described in the patent application includes a pad that moves and rotates along a pad guide, generating acceleration or braking signals for a vehicle depending on the direction of movement of the pad.

  • Pad moves and rotates along a pad guide
  • Generates acceleration or braking signals for a vehicle
  • Movement direction of the pad determines the type of signal generated

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in the automotive industry for electronic pedal systems in vehicles.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of providing a single pad that can generate both acceleration and braking signals for a vehicle.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include simplifying the design of electronic pedal systems in vehicles and potentially reducing manufacturing costs.

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could be used in the production of electronic pedal systems for various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be electronic pedal systems that use separate pedals for acceleration and braking signals.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact driver experience?

This article does not address how the use of this electronic pedal apparatus may affect the overall driving experience for the driver.

What are the potential safety implications of this technology?

The safety implications of this technology are not discussed in this article.

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic pedal apparatus includes a pad that rectilinearly moves and rotates along a pad guide while being kept in line contact with the pad guide including a shape of an arc when a driver operates the pad, an acceleration signal or a braking signal for a vehicle is generated by operation of the single pad, and a movement direction of the pad at the time of generating the acceleration signal is different from a movement direction of the pad at the time of generating the braking signal.
