SYMBOL TRANSMISSION METHOD AND COMMUNICATIONS APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240121140 titled 'SYMBOL TRANSMISSION METHOD AND COMMUNICATIONS APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for phase noise estimation in a communication system using reference signals on multiple resource blocks.

  • Transmit-side device determines frequency-domain positions of reference signals on multiple resource blocks.
  • Reference signals occupy consecutive frequency-domain resources on at least one resource block.
  • Transmit-side device maps reference signals to symbols based on their frequency-domain positions.
  • Transmit-side device sends the symbols to a receive-side device for phase noise estimation.
  • Receive-side device performs phase noise estimation based on the reference signals.
