Method for Initializing Newly Added Base Station in UWB System, Terminal, and System - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240118375 titled 'Method for Initializing Newly Added Base Station in UWB System, Terminal, and System

Simplified Explanation

The method described in the abstract involves a device utilizing ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to measure distances between UWB base stations and locations in an area, correcting its own coordinates based on this data.

  • Device requests UWB base station to measure initial position and starts IMU measurement.
  • Device moves to a different area and measures distances between UWB base stations and at least three locations.
  • Device returns to original area and requests UWB base station to measure end point position.
  • Device corrects its coordinates based on measured end point position.
  • Coordinates of UWB base stations are calculated based on corrected coordinates and measured distances.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various industries such as indoor navigation systems, asset tracking, and location-based services.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method includes a device in an area that requests a ultra-wideband (uwb) base station in the area to measure an initial position, and starts inertial measurement unit (imu) measurement. the device moves to an area , and the device requests to measure distances between each uwb base station in the area and at least three locations. the device returns to the area , and requests the uwb base station in the area to measure an end point position. the device corrects coordinates of the device in the area calculated using data obtained through the imu measurement based on the measured end point position. calculate the coordinates of each uwb base station in the area based on the corrected coordinates in the area and the measured distances between each uwb base station and the device in the area
