MASK APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240042248 titled 'MASK APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a mask apparatus that includes a mask body with a front body and a rear body. The rear body is coupled to the rear surface of the front body and has accommodation portions that protrude forward. A face guard is coupled to the rear surface of the rear body to contact a user's face and create a breathing space. A fan module is seated in the accommodation portion and a flow guide is provided at the rear surface of the fan module, defining a portion of a discharge port that communicates with the breathing space. A filter is seated on the flow guide and a filter housing is rotatably coupled to the rear body to cover the filter.

  • The mask apparatus includes a mask body with accommodation portions and a face guard, providing a comfortable and secure fit for the user.
  • A fan module is integrated into the mask apparatus, ensuring proper air circulation and ventilation within the breathing space.
  • The flow guide and filter effectively filter out particles and contaminants from the air before it reaches the user.
  • The rotatable filter housing allows for easy replacement and maintenance of the filter.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers, industrial workers, and individuals in polluted environments.
  • Respiratory protection during outbreaks of infectious diseases or in areas with poor air quality.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a secure and comfortable fit, reducing the risk of air leakage and improving overall protection.
  • Ensures proper air circulation and filtration, reducing the inhalation of harmful particles and contaminants.
  • Simplifies the process of replacing and maintaining the filter, increasing convenience and usability.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced protection against airborne particles and contaminants.
  • Improved comfort and fit, allowing for extended use without discomfort.
  • Easy maintenance and filter replacement, reducing downtime and ensuring continued effectiveness.

Original Abstract Submitted

a mask apparatus that includes a mask body including a front body; and a rear body coupled to a rear surface of the front body and from which a pair of accommodation portions protrudes forward; a face guard coupled to a rear surface of the rear body to contact a user's face and define a breathing space therein; a fan module seated in the accommodation portion; a flow guide provided at a rear surface of the fan module and defining a portion of a discharge port communicating with the breathing space; a filter seated on the flow guide; and a filter housing rotatably coupled to the rear body to cover the filter, in which a guide shoulder is rounded and protrudes from the side of the flow guide, and in which guide grooves are defined on the side of the filter housing.
