MULTI-PLAYER GAMING SYSTEM WITH SYNCHRONIZATION PERIODS AND ASSOCIATED SYNCHRONIZATION METHODS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240033649 titled 'MULTI-PLAYER GAMING SYSTEM WITH SYNCHRONIZATION PERIODS AND ASSOCIATED SYNCHRONIZATION METHODS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a system for multi-player games where players can cooperate or compete with each other over multiple rounds. A controller is used to synchronize the gaming devices used by the players. The controller sends sync commands to the gaming devices, which in turn start a sync timer that defines a window for accepting certain operations. The controller also sends periodic sync update commands to update the sync timers of the gaming devices based on a master sync timer maintained by the controller. This ensures that the game proceeds in a synchronized manner across all gaming devices.

  • The patent application describes a system for synchronizing gaming devices used in multi-player games.
  • The controller sends sync commands to the gaming devices to start a sync timer.
  • Periodic sync update commands are sent to update the sync timers of the gaming devices.
  • The controller maintains a master sync timer to ensure lock-step play across all gaming devices.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Multi-player online games where players need to be synchronized.
  • Virtual reality games where players interact with each other in real-time.
  • Mobile games that allow players to compete or cooperate with each other.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures that all players in a multi-player game are synchronized and experience the game in a consistent manner.
  • Prevents issues such as lag or desynchronization between players.
  • Allows for a smooth and seamless gaming experience across different devices.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhances the overall gaming experience by providing synchronized gameplay.
  • Enables real-time interaction and collaboration between players.
  • Reduces the chances of unfair advantages or disadvantages due to synchronization issues.

Original Abstract Submitted

multi-player games in which players cooperate and/or compete with one another over the course of several rounds of the game are disclosed. a controller may synchronize gaming devices used by the players during the multi-player games. the controller may send sync commands to the gaming devices. in response to the sync commands, the gaming devices may start a sync timer which defines a window in which certain guarded operations may be accepted by the gaming devices. the controller may send periodic sync update commands to the gaming devices which cause the gaming devices to update their respect sync timers to a time remaining of a master sync timer or window maintained by the controller. the controller may ensure that play of the multi-player game proceeds in a relatively lock-step manner across the gaming devices.
