EDGE EXPOSURE CONTEXT TRANSFER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18547691 titled 'EDGE EXPOSURE CONTEXT TRANSFER

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method involving Edge Enabler Server (EES) for transferring exposure context information between network functions.

  • The method involves receiving exposure context information from an Edge Application Server (EAS) and transmitting a request for retrieving the information to another EES.
  • The method further includes receiving the retrieved exposure context information and transmitting it back to the EAS.
  • This technique allows for the transfer of exposure context information between EESs, enabling re-use of existing subscriptions.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various edge computing scenarios where exposure context information needs to be shared between network functions efficiently.

Problems Solved

1. Efficient transfer of exposure context information between network functions. 2. Re-use of existing subscriptions by transferring EDGE-3 exposure context.

Benefits

1. Improved communication and data sharing between network functions. 2. Optimization of resources by re-using existing subscriptions. 3. Enhanced edge computing capabilities.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing edge computing networks, enhancing data sharing efficiency, and improving overall network performance could be valuable in industries such as telecommunications, IoT, and cloud computing.

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to methods of transferring context information between network functions in edge computing environments. Research in the field of edge computing and network function virtualization may reveal relevant prior art.

Unanswered Questions

How does this method ensure the security and privacy of the transferred exposure context information?

The abstract does not provide details on the security measures implemented to protect the exposure context information during transfer.

What are the specific technical requirements for implementing this method in a network environment?

The abstract does not mention the technical specifications or compatibility requirements for deploying this method in a network infrastructure.

Original Abstract Submitted

A first method performed by a first network function implementing Edge Enabler Server (EES). The first method comprises receiving a first request message comprising information regarding exposure context information, from a second network function implementing Edge Application Server (EAS). The first method further comprises transmitting a second request message for retrieving the exposure context information to a third network function implementing EES, in response to the information regarding exposure context information. The first method further comprises to receive a first response message including the retrieved exposure context information from the third network function. The first method further comprises to transmit a second response message including information regarding the retrieved exposure context information to the second network function. The disclosed techniques offer an option to transfer EDGE-3 exposure context between the EESs so that the existing subscriptions can be re-used.
